Cybercrime emerging; Authorities request help

A global coalition of cybercrime fighters is making a desperate appeal to the public for information on notorious cybercrime gangs, as they struggle to keep pace with the rapidly evolving threat landscape.

The Cybercrime Reporting and Cooperation Centre (CRCC), a joint initiative by the Australian Federal Police, the Dutch Police, and the European Cybercrime Centre, is leading the charge in this effort. The CRCC is specifically seeking information on high-profile criminal groups, such as:

  • Conti, a Russian-speaking gang notorious for its ransomware attacks
  • Lazarus Group, a North Korean-backed group linked to several high-profile attacks

The centre is also seeking intelligence on emerging threats, including the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in cyberattacks. This information is crucial in helping law enforcement agencies stay ahead of these criminal groups and prevent future attacks.

The public can report information anonymously through the CRCC's website, and all tips will be shared with law enforcement agencies worldwide. This collaborative effort aims to disrupt and dismantle cybercrime gangs, and bring perpetrators to justice.
